ELD Removal: FMCSA Revokes Five More Logging Devices

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has announced another ELD Removal, taking five electronic logging devices (ELDs) off its list of registered devices after determining they no longer meet the agency’s technical requirements.

Motor carriers using any of the affected ELDs have up to 60 days to replace them with a compliant device. Until then, drivers may temporarily use paper logs or logging software to record their hours of service.

ELD Removal Affects Five Devices

According to FMCSA, the following ELDs were removed from the agency’s registered list on August 6, 2026:

• 888 ELD – MAUMAU LLC
• TRACK 2 ELD – Track2 LLC
• TRACK 2 ELD Plus – Track2 LLC
• T2 ELD – Track2 LLC
• ROADLOG ELD – ROADLOG LLC

FMCSA said the devices were removed because the providers failed to meet the minimum technical requirements established for registered ELDs.

Motor Carriers Have 60 Days to Replace the Devices

FMCSA said carriers using one of the revoked ELDs should take the following steps:

• Stop using the revoked device.
• Use paper logs or compliant logging software to record hours of service during the transition.
• Replace the revoked ELD with a compliant device from FMCSA’s registered ELD list within 60 days.

If an ELD provider corrects the identified deficiencies, FMCSA may restore the device to the registered list. Until then, the agency encourages carriers to replace the devices as soon as possible to avoid compliance issues.

Drivers Could Be Placed Out of Service After the Deadline

After the 60-day replacement period expires, drivers who continue using one of the revoked ELDs may be cited for failing to maintain a required record of duty status under 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1).

FMCSA also said drivers found using one of the revoked devices after the deadline may be placed out of service in accordance with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Out-of-Service Criteria.

ELD Removal Continues a Larger FMCSA Compliance Effort

This is the latest in a series of ELD Removal actions announced by FMCSA over the past two years.

According to the agency, more than 79 electronic logging devices have been removed from the registered list since January 2025 after failing to meet federal technical standards. Earlier this year, FMCSA also removed multiple groups of ELDs, including 12 devices in May and 10 additional devices in July.

What Truck Drivers Should Know

Drivers do not need to replace an ELD unless it is one of the devices removed by FMCSA.

However, truck drivers should verify with their carrier or ELD provider that the device they use remains on FMCSA’s registered list. If a device has been revoked, carriers have a limited period to transition to a compliant ELD before enforcement begins.

FMCSA said it will notify the industry if any of the affected providers correct the identified deficiencies and their devices are restored to the registered list.
