Cokeville, Wyoming-based Cody Davis is not your average trucker. As the owner of Davis Trucking LLC, he has been hauling livestock across the United States with precision and style. His 2022 Kenworth W900L and accompanying 2023 Merritt livestock trailer have caught the attention of fellow trucking enthusiasts and earned him prestigious accolades at the 2023 Shell Rotella SuperRigs working truck show in Gillette, Wyoming.

At the SuperRigs event, Davis’s rig made quite an impression, sweeping awards in three categories: the Tractor-Trailer Division, Best Chrome, and Best Lights. Moreover, his stunning rig also won the People’s Choice Award after public voting. Achieving such recognition in a highly competitive industry is no small feat, but Cody Davis and his team have done just that.

Despite having just 18 months of service, Davis’s truck and trailer combo have already covered an impressive 300,000 miles, transporting livestock of all shapes and sizes. As Davis puts it, “As long as it walks on there, we’ll haul it.” This dedication to service and an unwavering commitment to excellence have been key factors in the rig’s success.

While Davis hauls cargo coast-to-coast, he primarily sticks to the western part of the country. The towering 14-foot height of his stacks and trailer makes navigating the eastern routes challenging, as they often have stricter height restrictions. “We’re pretty tall for going out East,” Davis acknowledges, “so we stay out West.”

What truly sets Davis’s rig apart is the incredible amount of custom work that has gone into it, from the bumper to the fenders and everything in between. The bumper and fenders were sourced from I-29 Custom Truck Parts, while the grille, complete with the company logo cutout, was skillfully crafted by SH Tube. Not stopping there, Davis turned to 12-gauge Customs for the visor and lift bumper, adding to the rig’s unique appeal.

The interior of the truck is just as impressive as its exterior. Most of the interior work was meticulously carried out by Two Bee’s Upholstery, creating a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing workspace for Davis during his long hauls. The flooring supplied by Rockwood adds durability and style to the cabin.

Performance-wise, the rig is powered by a robust 605-horsepower Cummins engine, complemented by an 18-speed transmission. PDI Diesel in St. George, Utah, contributed their exhaust and intake kits to enhance the engine’s capabilities. The result is a powerful and efficient machine that can handle the demands of long-distance livestock hauling.

Maintaining the rig’s impeccable appearance is no small task. Davis turns to Express Pressure Wash in Nampa, Idaho, to ensure his truck remains spotless and ready to shine. Even the 2023 Merritt livestock trailer required significant effort to achieve its polished look. Davis noted that it took four people a full two weeks to complete the extensive polishing process.
