Indiana State Police Blitz Results in Over 300 Traffic Stops

On Friday, August 30, 2024, Indiana State Police held a 24-hour blitz to stop traffic violations and criminal activity. The operation took place on I-80/94 and I-65. Officers from the Lowell Post worked with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division for the event. The goal was to make the roads safer by pulling over drivers and checking for any illegal behavior. This effort led to hundreds of traffic stops.

By putting 14 trucks out of service, the police made sure that unsafe trucks were removed from the roads.

Teamwork with Other Agencies for the Traffic Blitz

Other law enforcement groups also helped with the blitz. However, their numbers were not available when the Indiana State Police shared their results. This teamwork shows that keeping roads safe takes a group effort.

Leadership Reaction

Lieutenant Weems of the Indiana State Police was very happy with how well the blitz went. He said, “Proud does not begin to describe my feelings about the efforts put forth by the Troopers assigned to Lowell, but also the Troopers and Motor Carrier Inspectors with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division within our district. Through their hard work, our communities are made safer not only this past Friday, but on a daily basis. Thank you to all of the agencies that participated in this most recent blitz, and we look forward to working with each agency in future focused patrols.”

Why These Blitzes Matter

Blitz operations like this one help police catch unsafe drivers and criminals. They are especially important on busy roads like I-80/94 and I-65. Indiana is a key state for both personal and commercial traffic, so it’s crucial to keep those roads safe.
