Love’s Expands Truck Parking Along I-80 Corridor

Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores has opened a new travel stop in Illinois while also reopening a remodeled location in Florida as the company continues expanding truck parking and driver services across the country. The new Love’s location opened in Joliet, Illinois, at Interstate 80 and Exit 134 near Interstate 55. The company said the location adds 91 truck parking spaces and helps address the ongoing shortage of truck parking nationwide.

The company has added 733 truck parking spaces across the United States so far in 2026.

New Joliet Location Targets Busy Freight Corridor

Love’s said Joliet serves as a major connection point for freight traffic because of the intersection between Interstate 80 and Interstate 55.

The company described the area as an important supply chain corridor where truck drivers often face congestion and limited service options.

The Joliet travel stop includes:

  • 91 truck parking spaces
  • Three RV parking spaces
  • Nine diesel bays
  • Seven showers
  • Laundry facilities
  • CAT Scale access
  • Dog park
  • Self-checkout options
  • Fresh food prepared daily
  • A Hardee’s restaurant opening May 18

The location also adds about 70 jobs to the area.

Love’s Continues Expanding Truck Parking

Truck parking remains one of the trucking industry’s biggest challenges, especially along major freight corridors.

Love’s said the new Illinois location offers free truck parking for customers and is part of the company’s continued effort to increase parking capacity for professional drivers.

The company also noted that the Joliet location includes space reserved for future electric vehicle charging infrastructure if customer demand increases.

Love’s currently operates 676 locations across 42 states.

Florida Location Receives Major Remodel

Along with the Illinois opening, Love’s announced the reopening of its Auburndale, Florida, travel stop after completing renovations under the company’s “Road Ahead” improvement plan.

According to the company, the Florida location received:

  • Updated restrooms
  • Remodeled showers
  • Renovated sales floor
  • General facility upgrades

Love’s said it has remodeled 14 locations and opened eight new locations during 2026.

Love’s Announces Local Donations

As part of the Joliet grand opening, the company announced donations to several local organizations, including:

  • Greater Joliet Area YMCA
  • Trinity Services, Inc.
  • Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago

The company also announced a donation to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, in connection with the Auburndale reopening.

Truck Parking Continues to Be Industry Concern

The trucking industry continues facing truck parking shortages across many major freight routes in the United States.

Industry groups and drivers have repeatedly raised concerns about limited parking availability, especially near major interstate corridors and urban freight hubs.

New truck stop openings and parking expansions remain important for drivers dealing with hours-of-service requirements, congestion, and limited overnight parking options.
