CVSA Shares 2025 Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative Results

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has released the results of its 2025 Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative (HTAI). This is a five-day outreach event that happens every year. The initiative focuses on raising human trafficking awareness across North America. Law enforcement and industry members work together during this event. They help educate people about the signs of human trafficking. They also share information about how to report it.

Human Trafficking Awareness Efforts Across North America

Law enforcement agencies in all 50 U.S. states took part in this year’s HTAI. Agencies in five Canadian provinces and Mexico also joined the effort. CVSA worked with Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) to provide training resources. These materials help commercial drivers and officers recognize human trafficking. They also explain how to report it.

Throughout the week, many human trafficking awareness materials were distributed. CVSA reported handing out 41,102 wallet cards. They also gave out 17,033 window decals and 2,468 posters.

During the week, there were 87 outreach events. A total of 267 presentations were delivered. These efforts helped educate people on the dangers and signs of human trafficking.

In addition, there were 670 media contacts. There were also 161 social media posts during the campaign.

Comparing Results from 2024 and 2025

This year’s human trafficking awareness efforts showed growth in some areas compared to 2024. Last year, participants handed out 38,158 wallet cards, 13,510 window decals, and 1,603 posters.

In 2024, there were 334 outreach events and 204 presentations. This year saw fewer outreach events. However, the number of presentations increased. This change suggests a move toward more focused education efforts.

Media outreach remained strong both years. In 2024, there were 692 media contacts. This year had slightly fewer, with 670 contacts.

Social media activity increased this year. There were 161 posts in 2025, compared to 107 in 2024.

Expanded Media Reach Supports Awareness for Human Trafficking

CVSA reported that the 2025 HTAI had a strong media reach. The campaign dates were announced in November 2024. From that time through January 2025, the estimated media reach approached 140 million people.

In January, the daily average reach was nearly 627,000. CVSA’s Human Trafficking Prevention Program webpages had 9,830 visits. This is less than the 20,552 visits reported during the 2024 campaign.

Public service announcements (PSAs) helped spread human trafficking awareness. From December 2024 to February 2025, the PSAs aired on platforms like Pluto TV and Paramount+. They also aired on Spanish-language channels.

The PSAs played during commercial breaks for shows and movies. These efforts produced over 16 million impressions this year. That is a small increase from the 15.6 million impressions in 2024.

State-Level Human Trafficking Awareness Activities

Several states reported unique activities during this year’s campaign.

  • Louisiana State Police created a social media video about human trafficking awareness.

  • Indiana State Police secured media coverage. They delivered presentations to school transportation staff. They also provided materials to school bus drivers across the state.

  • In Nebraska, Governor Jim Pillen, Attorney General Mike Hilgers, and Col. John Bolduc of the State Police held a press conference. It took place at the state capitol. They recognized January as Human Trafficking Awareness Month.

  • Washington State Patrol provided training to more than 270 motorcoach and school bus drivers.

  • In New York, the Department of Transportation met with state legislators to discuss human trafficking laws. The state combined its Safe DRIVE program with the HTAI to expand outreach.

New inspection trailers were launched. These trailers displayed CVSA and TAT logos. They included contact information for reporting suspected trafficking. Additional materials were handed out at the New York City Port Authority bus terminal.

CVSA’s Ongoing Commitment to Human Trafficking Awareness

CVSA’s Human Trafficking Prevention Program works to end human trafficking. The program focuses on education, outreach, and enforcement.
