FMCSA Removes Five Devices from Registered List in the Latest ELD Removal Notice

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced the ELD removal of five devices from its registered list on October 17, 2025. The decision affects devices that failed to meet federal technical requirements outlined in Title 49 CFR, Part 395.

Five Devices Affected by the ELD Removal

FMCSA’s ELD removal includes devices from five companies:

  • ART KILIM INC — Premium ELD (PMM492)
  • Clean Aura Corp — True Logbook (TRL584)
  • Xplore Tech Inc — Xplore ELD (XPLORE)
  • KAMI ELD — KAMI ELD (KAM683)
  • Evo ELD Inc — EVO ELD 1 (G711H2)

These devices have been moved to the agency’s Revoked Devices List effective immediately.

ELD Removal Timeline and Carrier Instructions

Motor carriers have 60 days from the announcement date to replace any revoked units. Until December 16, 2025, drivers using one of these devices should switch to paper logs or compliant logging software.

Before that deadline, safety officials are asked not to cite drivers using revoked ELDs under 395.8(a)(1) or 395.22(a). Instead, they may review paper or backup logs to confirm hours-of-service compliance.

After December 16, carriers that continue using the revoked devices will be treated as operating without an ELD. Enforcement officers may issue citations and place drivers out of service based on Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) rules.

FMCSA Guidance on Removal and Compliance

FMCSA urges carriers to check the official Registered Devices List and confirm their current systems remain approved. Providers may correct technical issues and, once compliant, request reinstatement to the list.

The agency will notify carriers if any of the five devices return to approved status, but carriers are encouraged to act now to avoid penalties or downtime later.

Impact of the ELD Removal on Trucking Operations

The ELD removal affects thousands of drivers who rely on these systems for daily logging. Replacing units may create short-term disruptions, yet it ensures that all active devices meet federal standards for accuracy and data transfer.

By enforcing these removals, FMCSA aims to strengthen electronic logging reliability and maintain consistent safety oversight across the trucking industry.

What Comes Next After the ELD Removal

FMCSA continues to review other ELD models for compliance. Any future removals will appear on the Revoked Devices List and trigger the same 60-day replacement rule. Carriers are advised to check FMCSA updates regularly and verify that their devices remain on the approved list.
