FMCSA: Three ELDs Revoked from Approved List – What Truckers Need to Do

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has taken three Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) off its approved list. The ELDs revoked affects motor carriers and drivers using these devices. On November 18, 2024, the FMCSA removed the following devices because they do not meet federal requirements:

  • Keep Tracking

    • Model: KTEELDV1.1
    • Identifier: KTE001
    • Provider: Keep Tracking
  • Rollingtrans ELD – ACCURATE ONE

    • Model: RT-ONE-BT01
    • Identifier: RTOA47
    • Provider: Rollingtrans
  • RT ELD Plus – ACCURATE PLUS

    • Model: RT-PLUS-BLE3647
    • Identifier: RTPS47
    • Provider: Rollingtrans

These devices are now listed on FMCSA’s Revoked Devices list. Motor carriers and drivers must act quickly to avoid breaking the law.

What Truckers and Companies Need to Do About ELDs Revoked

If you are using one of the revoked ELDs, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Stop Using These ELDs
Stop using the devices listed above. Until you replace them, you must use paper logs or compliant logging software to track your hours of service (HOS).

  2. Replace the Devices
Choose a new ELD from FMCSA’s Registered Devices list. Make sure to switch before the January 17, 2025 deadline.

Carriers and drivers have 60 days to make these changes, but acting sooner will help you avoid problems.

What Happens If You Don’t Comply?

If you keep using one of the revoked devices after January 17, 2025, you could face serious consequences:

  • You’ll Be Breaking the Rules
Drivers who don’t have an approved ELD will be in violation of 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1), which requires accurate duty status records.

  • Drivers Could Be Pulled Off the Road
If a driver uses a revoked ELD, they could be placed out-of-service under the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Out-of-Service Criteria.

For details about the CVSA criteria, visit the CVSA website.

Could The ELDs Revoked Be Approved Again?

The FMCSA says these devices could go back on the approved list if the providers fix the problems. If that happens, FMCSA will notify the trucking industry.

For now, it’s best to replace the devices as soon as possible. The list of approved ELDs can be found on FMCSA’s Registered Devices page.

Take Action Now to Stay Compliant

Drivers and carriers should act quickly to replace the revoked ELDs. Switching to an approved device now will help avoid fines, penalties, or delays in your operations.
