Windrose To Launch New Chinese Electric Vehicle Factory In Georgia
The company will open an EV plant in Georgia in 2025, assembling electric trucks for U.S. customers. Windrose hopes to challenge established EV players like Tesla.
Chinese electric truck startup Windrose is planning to open a truck assembly plant in Georgia in 2025. This move is a big step into the U.S. market and will challenge other companies like Tesla in the electric truck industry.
New Plant in Georgia
The new plant in Georgia will put together parts made in China to build trucks for U.S. customers. Most of Windrose’s orders come from the U.S., with plans to build and deliver 6,400 trucks over the next three years. The company’s founder and CEO, Han Wen, said the U.S. market is good for Chinese electric trucks because tariffs are lower than on electric cars.
Competing with Tesla
Windrose trucks will cost about $250,000, the same as Tesla’s Semi trucks. They will have a battery pack that lasts over 700 kilowatt hours, giving them a range of more than 418 miles on a single charge when fully loaded. This makes them a strong competitor in the electric truck market.
Serving U.S. Customers
Setting up a plant in the U.S. helps Windrose serve its customers better. Some big companies like Nike are already their clients. Building trucks in the U.S. will help meet the growing demand for electric trucks.
Global Growth Plans
Windrose is not just expanding in the U.S. They also plan to open an assembly plant in Belgium next year. By the end of 2027, Windrose aims to produce over 10,000 trucks each year. They are also working with battery suppliers CALB and EVE Energy, who are building battery plants in Europe.
Looking Ahead
Windrose’s plan to open a truck assembly plant in Georgia is a big move in the electric vehicle market. With this new plant and their strong product offerings, they are ready to compete with other big names like Tesla. This expansion will help them serve more customers and grow their presence in the U.S. and beyond.
