On July 8th, a heroic, devoted trucker rescued a miracle baby, a one-year-old, found alone in a ditch along I-10 in Lake Charles, LA. The baby was allegedly by itself there for 2 days.
In a remarkable act of vigilance, a trucker helped save a one-year-old baby found alone in a ditch along Interstate 10 (I-10) in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This touching story highlights the incredible survival of a child and the sharp eyes of a truck driver.
On July 8, deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) found the body of a four-year-old child in water near the Vinton Welcome Center. The child was last seen with his mother, Aaliyah N. Jack, 25, and his one-year-old brother. A warrant was issued for Jack’s arrest for not reporting her missing child. She was arrested in Mississippi, but the one-year-old was still missing.
The next morning, at about 9 a.m., a trucker called CPSO. He had seen a baby in a ditch on I-10 near mile marker 10. Deputies rushed to the scene and identified the baby as the missing one-year-old. Despite being outside for two days, the baby was miraculously alive.
“We looked at this one-year-old, he was our miracle baby because he was still alive. Unbelievable. This kid spent two days out in the weather on the side of the highway. Thank God that trucker saw him,” said Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Stitch Guillory. Sheriff Guillory expressed deep relief and gratitude for the trucker’s quick action.
The discovery of the one-year-old and the tragic death of his brother has led to a major investigation by CPSO. Authorities are working hard to find out what happened. Sheriff Guillory stressed that his team is dedicated to getting justice for the children. “We will dedicate all necessary resources to ensure a thorough investigation,” he said.
The community’s concern and support have been strong throughout this ordeal. The rescued baby, though covered in bug bites, was otherwise in good condition and was taken to a local hospital. He is now safe and in the care of authorities. Meanwhile, Aaliyah Jack faces extradition to Louisiana, with more charges possibly coming as the investigation goes on.
This story shows the importance of being watchful and the critical role that truckers play in keeping our roads safe. The survival of the one-year-old baby, thanks to the quick actions of a truck driver, offers hope in a tragic situation. As authorities work to find out what happened, the community stands united in support of the affected family.
